A main trend in Operator Algebras is to examine operators related to geometric structures. Depending on the choice of the quantization one may ask how this encodes the geometry of the objects, i.e., how isomorphisms of operator algebras is translated to isomorphisms of the structures. Researching the latter produces a machinery for examples and counterexamples from the discrete realm to the functional analysis context.
